The awesome Scott E. Weinberg joins the MONSTROSITY crew to give us his sleeper DVD pick. Is JJ Abrams going to bail on STAR TREK to direct the next STAR WARS movie? And you have to check out this monster meat from the soon-to-be-cult-classic flick JOHN DIES AT THE END.

MONSTROSITY episodes will drop every Tuesday (I know YouTube says "1-7-13," but YouTube LIES! THEY LIE, ALL OF THE VIDEO PEOPLES!)

Thats some good stuff, but wasn't the JJ info like 3 weeks ago? And John Dies at the End is some funny shit!

I like the editing better. And now I'm thinking I might read JOHN DIES AT THE END.

@Jayguana: Yes, the JJ news has been out for a bit. Still, a lot of people haven't heard it. Hell, I covered the EVIL DEAD read band trailer two weeks ago, and people are still discovering it like it's a new thing. If the news is big enough, I'll cover it even if I'm a bit late.

I agree. Still fast paced and lots of fun to watch, but it doesn't feel too quick now.

I read John Dies at the End a few years ago. I need to read it again. Plus, I just discovered that This Book is Full of Spiders is a sequel, so now I have to read that too.

You know me Scott, I always have to find something to complain about. I did like the show though and I agree with Kali about the editing.  Yet another cool new feature to come back and check out! There is also a New Joe Ledger novel coming out by Jon Maberry, and The Last Exorcism 2 and movie news, maybe you can throw that in your next show.

Speaking of Abrams, how is that Lost show of his making out?

See what I did there...

Oh yeah! Thanks, FDO, now I have a new list of movies to watch this weekend. Hadn't heard of "John Dies..." Guess I've been out of the loop.

The editing is better, but I'd like to see another tweak in the same direction... You are 75% of the way there! Keep up the good work!

And I just now read that Abrams "unofficially announced" he WILL do Star Wars Episode VII!

For crying out loud!!! It is just another level of that "Show-That-Must-Not-Be-Named" crap all over again!

I think he did a decent job on Star Trek, there was really no reason to initially swear allegiance to only the Trekkers! Now he will just come out looking like a wishy-washy fool!

@Jokerdas: I'm hoping the director's cut of the STAR TREK reboot is good, becasue what I saw on the screen was mediocre at best. I love how no one seems to notice that a Romulan ship sat on its ass for twenty years waiting for something to come out of the gate.

I heard a rumor that is explained in the directors cut.

@Shadygirl: I've heard that as well. I guess I'm just a bit bummed that it's something that went ignored in the rave reviews from Nerdland. The structural flaws in the BATMAN movies, STAR TREK, SUPER 8 ... I find myself looking for an entertainment experience that seems to be in the vast minority. Sure, the director's cut probably makes sense, yet you don't see Nerdland on the social medias saying "fun, but much of it didn't make any sense -- I hope to see the director's cut."
