Playlist for writing THE CRYPTHere's a little peek behind the writing curtain, Junkies. What does your favorite author listen to while he's creating nightmarish visions of convicts, murderers and madmen? Well here you go, the playlist I'm listening to when I write stories about THE CRYPT.

Music plays a huge part in my writing process. Usually I write a draft or two, then figure out who the characters are, then assign songs that capture that emotional approach. I then listen to that characters song or playlist when I write from that character's point of view (POV).

For THE CRYPT, every character is damaged, and the overall situation is just fucked. Therefore, I created a master playlist that carries that feeling.

The PUV James Keeling is not a happy place, folks. It will be years before the entire story is told, but if I do my job correctly, reading it will draw you through an emotional wringer.

Sorry I couldn't make the playlist graphic bigger, both my site and Flickr seem to be opposed to something that long (and that's not as dirty as it sounds), so it reduces width and squashes things a bit.

Thanks for the playlist. Now, how about you get your props from iTunes and get a Celebrity Playlist! Wonder how that works...

Hell Yes!

While some of those selections are questionable, I must say that your choice of Danzig songs is right on the money! Thanks for not going the "Mother" route like some chump who doesn't know his music.

I don't care if your face falls off, Sigler...MORE OUTPUT!!!!

Not for this one ...

Saving Manilow for when I need to write "a quadruple amputee's tale of revenge against the rabid mutant dogs that ate his limbs." I just have the tagline, no title. I think Manilow's music fits that tone perfectly. He rawks!

You have "sober" in there twice. Two different versions? Would've been nice to what albums these songs came from!
