Here's a little peek behind the writing curtain, Junkies. What does your favorite author listen to while he's creating nightmarish visions of convicts, murderers and madmen? Well here you go, the playlist I'm listening to when I write stories about THE CRYPT.
Music plays a huge part in my writing process. Usually I write a draft or two, then figure out who the characters are, then assign songs that capture that emotional approach. I then listen to that characters song or playlist when I write from that character's point of view (POV).
For THE CRYPT, every character is damaged, and the overall situation is just fucked. Therefore, I created a master playlist that carries that feeling.
The PUV James Keeling is not a happy place, folks. It will be years before the entire story is told, but if I do my job correctly, reading it will draw you through an emotional wringer.
Sorry I couldn't make the playlist graphic bigger, both my site and Flickr seem to be opposed to something that long (and that's not as dirty as it sounds), so it reduces width and squashes things a bit.
