Dig anime? Cartoons? Always dreamed of being the next voice of Master Chief in Halo? Well then I have the book for you. The VOICE-OVER VOICE ACTOR by Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt is the ultimate resource for ya.

Now I know what you're saying, yet another "how-to" book from some douchebag who hasn't actually done jack shit. Well allow me to disappoint. Authors Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt have some serious cred in the voice-acting industry. Tara's voice is featured in Naruto and as Wonder Woman in video games, while Yuri is the voice of Ben Ten and he is the muthafuckin' Prince of Persia. Click on their names for links to their wiki pages, and marvel and the body of work.

So these playas know the biz. If you want voice-acting info, this is the goods, but the book is also a gem for podcast authors and podcasters in general. Chapters on "Finding Your Voice," "Playing With Speed, Pitch & Volume," home booths and distance from the mic, and how to take care of your voice during a recording are f-ing gold.

I've also had the good fortune of meeting these two. They are rock-solid peeps. Tara is wayyyy hotter than Yuri, but that's just the way life goes.

Similar to American Idol and singing prowess, I don't know much about the mechanics of singing but I like anyone else I can tell when someone sucks.  I would say the same thing for voice actors.  Having listened to numerous audiobooks and audiodramas, the more thought and care put into the mechanics of the voice acting, the better the performance.  It's neat to see there are guides for those interested in pursing it.

Awesome! I was once told I had the perfect voice for...

Oh, hang on. It wasn't voice-overs. (It might have had something to do with 0055 numbers...) :p
