We had our Oscars, watched morons postulate about some kind of conspiracy against James Cameron (yes, the Academy "hates" him, which is why his movies have already earned 15+ Oscars ...), and saw the ceremony go way past scheduled time. We also saw a pandering, "horror is okay, too!" montage as the Academy tried to make up for the fact that the genre gets zero respect when it comes time for the statuettes.

Well, enough of that crap, people, because here are the Oscars of Horror! Best Picture, Vampires, Zombies, Monsters, Best Sequel, and more. Listen in to hear who takes home the hardware.

Best Vampire Film

Let the Right One In was by far the best vampire movie of year and didn't even make your shortlist....... Have you even seen it? If not treat yourself.

Feast 3

Had no idea that just came out this year. Really liked Feast, and had plans to watch Feast 2. We were actually watching movies in that sub-genre of "total strangers holed up in the middle of nowhere while nasty monsters pick away at them one by one." We watched Feast, Demon Knight, Tremors and Dusk til Dawn before my cohorts got laid off. We would watch them in a conference room at lunch. Blood, guts and gratuitous funbags on the conference room walls. It was a good couple of weeks. >sigh<

I really liked Feast as well...

but IMHO, the movies just went downhill from there.  Although if you're only in it for the blood, guts and gratuitous funbags, you still might enjoy them!  Wink

What?

Are you kidding me? I'm in it for the deep character portrayals, the clever and unique plotting, the top-shelf special effects, and wagnerian angst.

And funbags.

best movie

I love that "Dead Snow" won best pic.  I saw this movie in Toronto on a guys weekend trip.  I never thought that a sub-titled gore fest would win such a prestigeous award.  And damn, those Nazis were fast for zombies.
